Cells4Life
When a cardiac surgeon and a medical researcher want to establish a company to store stem cells from the umbilical cord blood, finding a location that could handle the laboratory aspects of the business was a particular challenge. A clean room and full cryogenic storage facilities were set-up with the help of the Sussex Innovation Centre, but as important was the ability to receive samples 24 hours a day. Cells4Life now have moved on from the Innovation Centre to new lab facilities in Burgess Hill.

Network Research Communications
As an English Graduate from the University of Sussex entering the world of pharmaceutical clinical trials was quite daunting. Getting direct access to key innovation professionals from within the NHS through the Sussex Innovation Centre network was a real benefit in understanding and building the business model for the new company. NRC are now providing a diabetes patient recruitment service for a major pharmaceutical company.
