Recent amendments to planning Policy

Changes to the national planning policies on the energy and sustainability performance of new dwelling and the vote to leave the EU has placed the future of the UK’s national zero carbon buildings programme into serious jeopardy, in the meantime London continues its own path towards zero carbon though the London Plan.

CIS will provide a summary of where low carbon buildings policy currently resides at a national and local scale. This will include any relevant minor alterations to the London Plan (MALP) expected just in advance of this event. We will discuss some of the likely policy trajectories, the impact of Brexit and what opportunities this might present to, developers, local authorities, and ultimately building occupants.

The Home Quality Mark and meeting energy and sustainability planning targets

The HQM provides housing developers with the tools they need to convince customers of the quality and added benefits of their new homes. CIS’s qualified HQM assessor will provide an introduction into the BRE’s new voluntary standard and demonstrate how this can be best utilised to discharge energy and sustainability planning targets. Using case studies CIS will draw comparisons with Code for Sustainable Homes, demonstrate links with planning and policies and review quick win credits.

For more infomation on the Home Quality Mark follow this link to their website.

CIS are offering FREE Home Quality Mark pre- assessments to the first 5 applicants (subject to T&C's).
