Can anyone join the Innovation Centre?
We’re looking for your ambition but tenants or Licencees main proposed activity should fall under at least one of the following headings:
- Research and/or research and development
- Strategic, policy, technical or management consultancy
- Prototype or low volume manufacturing
- Scientific product or market testing
- Other innovative activities which further the aims of the Centre and the region
- Services or manufacture to support any of the above
- Technology support or services linked to the University of Sussex.

Do I have to pay Business Rates in addition to the rent?
No, Business Rates are included in addition to heat, light and power.
Is car parking available?
Free parking is available on a limited basis. A car parking space is allocated on the basis of one for every 200 square feet of office space taken. The main line railway station of Falmer is close to the campus and buses travel to the campus from both Brighton and Lewes.
Are restaurant facilities sited at the Centre?
The Centre has it's own cafe - Cafe Direct - which is open each working day between the hours of 8.30 am and 4.30 pm serving both hot and cold food.
What are the Lease arrangements and how long is the minimum period for taking space?
The legal arrangements are covered by a Licence for a inital period of three years with a review at that time. One month's notice can be given by either party. There is no minimum period as such, although the shortest any company has been here in the last ten years was three months.
