The Plessey Semiconductors recently announced that it has been honoured with an Electronic Products’ Product of the Year award for its EPIC electric potential sensors. The editors of Electronic Products — a leading US trade publication for electronic design engineers — evaluated thousands of products launched in 2011. The EPIC Sensor technology was developed at the University of Sussex and licensed to Plessey.
Electric Potential Sensors (EPS) are wideband (quasi DC to 200 MHz) ultra high impedance sensors capable of detecting spatial potential, electric field or charge. EPS technology has applications in medical, homehealth, security, non-destructive testing, geophysical surveying and human-machine interfacing markets.
