As advertised a few months ago, things are changing at Sussex Innovation, and we're looking for a special kind of person to help us grow. You can read about the background to why we've started advertising for the person, not the job, here. We've had some great responses to our first 'open job advert', and have several excellent new business mentors joining the team in the New Year. However, there's still one skillset that's in high demand, and we're narrowing down the search for people who can provide it.
If you're a sales and marketing specialist and want to use your talents for a greater purpose, we're looking for supportive, collaborative people who are passionate about working with growing businesses. No long list of job specifications here - all we ask for is a background in a relevant field.
Maybe you're returning to work as a new parent, and need a more flexible role that's still a fulfilling one. Or maybe you love your freelance coaching and mentoring work, but hate having to constantly drum up new clients. As a Sussex Innovation advisor, you'll get to work with a wide range of fascinating businesses who are doing great things. Our mission is to empower entrepreneurs to solve the big challenges of our time, from education, to health and wellbeing, and using emerging technologies for good. We want to energise the most ambitious businesses in the south east to achieve purposeful growth and create meaningful work. If that sounds like something you want to be a part of, we want to hear from you.
Sussex Innovation is an equal opportunity employer. We celebrate diversity and are committed to creating an inclusive environment for all employees. We are based on campus at the University of Sussex, and the role will involve some travel to meet clients, as well as delivering mentoring and workshops at our sister site in East Croydon. We offer a competitive package of benefits and a supportive, collaborative working environment.
We’re particularly interested to hear from you if you have any one of the following:
- Intimate experience of what it’s like to run a small business; empathy for the highs and lows, hard graft, anxieties and pressures involved
- Business coaching experience at any and all stages of the business life cycle and the ability to execute a growth plan
- Specialist coaching experience in sales and/or marketing and the ability to show evidence of results
- Experience of engaging with entrepreneurs, networking, and working with a CRM system
- Experience developing and leading one-to-many training and workshops
