The University of Sussex has a great research opportunity for companies at the Sussex Innovation Centre and master-level students to collaborate for mutual benefit, as part of the MSc Entrepreneurship and Innovation Research Project.

Companies may suggest a research topic of their interest that will be refined together with a faculty member of the University of Sussex Business School. Each company will be assigned one (or more) student(s) working on the project. Depending on the main project, students can take an observing role, actively participate in the operations, or conduct external research for the company. There will also be a final project report for the company. All information will be treated with the utmost confidentiality.

The following are areas where students can support businesses:

– New Market Development
– Innovation
– Business Growth
– Internationalisation
– Entrepreneurial Finance
– Business support
– Business Model Innovation
– Digitalisation
– External Challenges

This is a non-exhaustive list and the Business school are open to considering other areas of interest.

The amount of involvement between student to company is dependent to the research project to be negotiated with the company. There is the opportunity for several scheduled meetings over a 3-4 months period to more intensive involvement in other tasks to support the entrepreneurs.

The timeline of the project will be beginning in March where the company will meet with the supervisory team at the Business School to refine a research question to be given to the students. The students will then be briefed on their company project and research will commence from May-August.
