We are very excited to announce Sussex Innovation’s participation in this year’s Brighton Half Marathon on the 24th of February.

We are participating in the Sussex Beacon corporate relay. This is a great relay-style format; in teams of 4 each person runs just over 5k each across the 13.1 mile course to raise money for people living with HIV.

The Sussex Beacon provide specialist care for those living with HIV. They are an inspirational charity who provide clinical care, peer support, family support and host supportive and community spaces to build confidence for people living with HIV.Each team is asked to raise a minimum of £200 for the Sussex Beacon, but of course – the more we can raise the better. This is our first participation in the Half Marathon, and we have already seen a great community spirit!

From Sussex Innovation, we have three teams all ready to run and fundraise:

Team Mike, Team Jane and Team Pete. Members in our community have also signed up, including Ambiental and Race Nation.

In the spirit of competition, we will be ranking which team raises the most money. This will be tallied up through our Race Nation funding pages. But also, all donations will together form one donation from the Sussex Innovation centre for The Sussex Beacon.

In the lead up to the Marathon we will also be running some exciting fundraisers to raise more money for Sussex Beacon:

– On the 8th of February we will be hosting The Great SINC Bake Off. Come along with your delectable treats and showstoppers for a fun competition and bake sale!
– On Valentines day we are holding a community lunch with games, a raffle and food and drink. More info here:

This is a fantastic opportunity for our community to band together, get on those old trainers and champion team spirit to raise money for an extremely important and inspirational cause. If your team would like to get involved in joining the relay, please contact either Sasha or Daisy.
