INTCAS, the global technology platform for education, revealed this week that it has successfully drawn down £2m of series A investment.

INTCAS has built a platform and support infrastructure that allows schools, colleges and universities from across the world to work collaboratively within a single system to attract, recruit and manage international students in a safe, compliant and cost-efficient way.

This unique ‘infrastructure-as-a-service’ approach attracted attention from investors with an eye on how technology may be set to radically change the global education market. INTCAS uses the power of big data and the blockchain to connect various stakeholders.

“We’re delighted to have reached this significant milestone in INTCAS’ journey,” said CEO Zakaria-Saqib Mahmood. “It started years ago, with me visiting nearly 30 different countries in Africa, Asia and Latin America over 3 years. To have grown from that initial seed of an idea to the team and platform we have today, is something really special.”

INTCAS is part of an emerging community of ambitious technology businesses launched in the borough of Croydon in recent years.

“INTCAS is a fine example of the type of business we love to support,” said Mike Herd, executive director of Sussex Innovation. “They’re solving a real problem in a new way, and have the drive to tackle the challenge globally. This ambition, combined with the social values of the business, are creating real economic growth and jobs for Croydon. We congratulate them on this round of investment and look forward to watching their continued success.”

The Board of INTCAS is being advised by Eversheds Sutherland and Deutsche Bank, the institutional investment bankers. Multiple investors have contributed to the £2m round during the first quarter of 2018, as part of a larger series B and C round which will begin shortly.

The funds will be used to scale the business, growing its development team as it looks to build on its portfolio of products and services for international students and institutions.
